Third Round is Open!

December 1, 2015

DETROIT – Motor City Match is inviting local businesses and building owners to apply for a share of $500,000 in grant funding and technical assistance as the program begins accepting applications for its third round of quarterly funding.

Launched by Mayor Mike Duggan and the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation earlier this year, Motor City Match supports investment in Detroit’s neighborhood commercial corridors by pairing building owners with new and expanding businesses. The program has already supported nearly 100 businesses and over 50 properties in two previous rounds of funding.

“Motor City Match is a program that’s truly unique to the city of Detroit,” said Roderick Miller, CEO of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation. “No other city in the country has a program like this one to help foster and support the local businesses that continue to drive Detroit’s recovering economy forward. An investment in local business is an investment in Detroit. That’s why this program was created and we are thrilled to see its early success.”

In addition to funding, Motor City Match provides applicants with business planning services, help finding space and design support. The program supports business owners at every step of the process, from idea to open.

“Motor City Match is helping my company and others grow in Detroit,” said Les Lance, Business Manager at J&G Pallets. “The grant will accelerate our ability to grow in Detroit, hire in Detroit and thrive in Detroit.”

Anyone interested in entering their commercial building or business into the program can apply to Round 3 of the Motor City Match program between December 1 and January 1 to be considered for awards. Application details, qualification requirements and program guidelines are available at
